About Our Travel Website

Inspiration comes from many places. As for the inspiration behind this website, there was no “Eureka” moment for us. It was the culmination of many comments, urgings from friends, and realizations from us. Covid came, and like many people we had time on our hands to do some introspection. Our realization was time was precious, and we didn't want to waste any of the time we have remaining. 

So while most people hunkered down for a year or more, we did the opposite. We traveled. 

One of our adventures during Covid took us to Key West. Sitting in the pool one afternoon, we started discussing the situation facing us and the world at the time. We concluded that life was too short to not move forward. Our family’s decision was to create unforgettable memories while we can and explore the world. For us, experiences and moments shared together are more valuable than any material possessions. Throughout our journeys, we have been fortunate to witness breathtaking landscapes and immerse ourselves, in the beauty of diverse cultures.
 

As for the name of our website, the inspiration again has its origins in Key West.

“Much To Be Done” is inspired by a men’s restroom on Green Street in Key West. If you are a fan of Jimmy Buffett, like we are, then you are probably familiar with Captain Tony’s Saloon and the song inspired by that famous waterhole, “Last Mango in Paris.” 

Tony Tarracino was the longtime proprietor of the bar that bears his name. Buffett was a regular customer and performer at Captain Tony’s Saloon back in the day, where he would be regaled with stories from the charismatic owner / bartender. The song “Last Mango in Paris” is a great tale, both in song and in real life. As explained in the lyrics of the song, there is a sign in the men’s restroom that proclaims one of the many colorful quotes of Captain Tony:
 

I ate the last mango in Paris 

Took the last plane out of Saigon 

Took the first fast boat to China 

And Jimmy there's still so much to be done

“There’s still so much to be done” for us is a powerful statement and quite the motivator. We have made the decision to travel, to create memories, and to explore this amazing world. While we've visited many places, the list of destinations we'd like to experience is extensive. There truly is so much still to be done, and though we may never complete the list, our goal is to make a significant dent in it.
 

As the song reminds us, there is always more to discover and experience. Our objective is to embrace the unknown and explore as much of this beautiful planet as possible, leaving no stone unturned in our quest for wonder. We extend an invitation for you to join us on this incredible journey through our words, photos, and videos that we have shared on this site. While we've been fortunate to have had numerous remarkable encounters, we believe that there is still so much more to be done.
